THERE IS
A NEW BREED OF INDEPENDENT MUSICIANS
In January 2007 I decided to give the commercial music industry
a fuck off for starting a war with the so called
music pirates who also happen to be our fans. I see these things in a
very different way than the labels and I could no longer be a part of
that dirty industry. Therefore I declined
to sign my music to a traditional record label
despite of their numerous offers. Instead I uploaded the music to a
simple webpage where I issued a short statement. about
my views on this. Since then all my releases have
been completely free and legal for everyone to download and
share.
After a short while more bands expressed a wish to make their music
freely available to the general public and Misantrof ANTIRecords
uploaded more
outstanding music - An beutiful idea was born and today we
have a huge collection of music that's not only matching the quality of
what the commercial industry releases - It's surpassing it in regards
of originality and musical quality. Through hard work,
knowledge and dedication we are able to remain
independent without
their financial support. MISANTROF
bands are those bands any label would be lucky to
get but we got them first.
THE USELESSNESS OF
ESTABLISHED MUSIC INDUSTRY
The
anticommercial nature
of Misantrof
ANTIRecords is a direct threat to the established
industry because we find them to be completely useless. We are
fully able to handle all aspects of our own art ourselves. You only
need knowledge and a few affordable technological
tools. Reality is nothing like the labels would like
you to believe - a traditional label actually restricts you in
regard of how many people you can potentially reach with your
music.
They restrict
your art to the minorities who are still buying
CD's as they want to make money. Small and
medium sized bands hardly ever saw any money
from CD sales anyway - Their money usually came from selling
merchandise and doing concerts. This is basically simple math
- The more people a band are
able to reach the more money they can potentially make. The new breed
of
independent musicians don't want any restrictions on how
to distribute their own music to their audience
- They know that they can reach
far more people withoout hiring a label to steal both their rights and
their money while limiting their possibility to reach YOU -
Its not a good deal...
THE
GREAT PRESS COVERAGE CHALLENGE
The
established music
press do however need income from labels
buying their advertisement space, Misantrof ANTIRecords
and the bands have a
huge challenge when it comes to getting decent press coverage - Some of
them are good but others try
to silence us whenever they can. I will do my very
best to make sure they don't get away with it for much longer. You see
- We're not going anywhere
- We
are planning to stay right here and to compete with
the commercial industry. We intend to continue releasing
better and more interesting music than they do - And we intend
to let you continue getting every single
release for free.
WHAT DO WE WANT YOU TO DO?
I WANT YOU TO REPLACE THE
NEED OF MEDIA. I put YOU in charge of promoting our bands. Together we
have the power to change how music is distributed and who

way I wanted it to be when
I founded this organization. The reason I
want you to
do this job is because you are already doing this for so many other
bands
- Bands who don't even need your help.
It
won't take you that much extra effort to also include
some Independent
artists :)
