I kind of wanted to start a topic since nobody's posted here since September...
But it's an important question. How heavy is the new album going to be? I ask because I'd like to see the band get added to Metal Archives. That's probably the best promotion any underground band can get. In fact, more than half (I'd even say 80%) of all music I listen to is underground bands that I've discovered simply by browsing the Archives. In fact, that's how I discovered Secht, and through that, Misantrof. But it's of course important for a band to be METAL to be accepted into the Metal Archives. And though songs like A Waste Of Talent and One Foot In The Grave sound heavy enough, what's the rest of the material like? Stuff like The Serpent and The Last Day sound great, but definitely aren't metal. In fact, what would you classify AWOT as a regular genre? Doom? Groove? Doom/Groove? You'll have to think of that.
Anyway, if it's possible, try to make any upcoming songs as heavy as possible. Once it's in the Archives, I'm sure you'll find visitors to Misantrof will flood in like shit from a burst septic tank. I'd also like to review it, so I hope it makes it to the Archives!
I don't know yet. We just make it the way we feel like and musical direction is of no importance in this band. There will be more hard songs, but also not so hard songs and even maybe some totally fucked up weird songs. Thanks for your concern and all, but the truth is we do not make music for other people to enjoy. We make music to get some good stuff WE can enjoy listening too. If other people likes it - Well, that's a nice bonus. A true musician do not care about fame, glory, metal archives. A Waste of Talent is our tribute to all the ones who once made something different. We're not the ones to judge the music. That will be up to all of you to decide. We play GroovyDepressive PopRockMetal with a lot of doom in it. We can only do what we feel in order for the music to remain true. So time will tell. I know we have at least 2 more songs coming that can be classified as metal on the AWOT album. NEVER FOLLOW TRENDS - MAKE THEM
